What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies?

Cookies are small data files stored by your browser when you visit a website. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, pixels, SDKs, and browser caches that help a site recognize a browser, remember settings, or operate features.

In this policy, cookies means cookies and these similar technologies unless we say otherwise. Some are set by PDF Gain, and others are set by service providers that help us operate the product.

2

Why We Use Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to make PDF Gain work reliably, protect accounts and documents, remember product state, support payments, and understand whether the service is fast and stable.

  • Keep you signed in and maintain secure authenticated sessions.
  • Remember anonymous upload state so guest documents can be opened, replaced, or claimed after signup.
  • Preserve editor state, document rendering data, and browser-side caches needed for PDF workflows.
  • Route you through checkout and subscription management.
  • Measure usage, performance, errors, and reliability so we can improve PDF Gain.

Types of Cookies We Use

The exact cookies and storage keys may change as we improve the service, but they generally fall into the categories below.

  • Essential cookies and storage: Required for authentication, security, document access checks, upload sessions, editor functionality, and checkout. PDF Gain may not work correctly if these are blocked.
  • Preference storage: Used to remember choices such as language, session state, and interface settings where available.
  • Performance and analytics technologies: Used to understand page performance, feature usage, errors, and service reliability. We use these signals to improve the product, not to sell personal information.
  • Payment and subscription technologies: Used by Paddle and related checkout services to process purchases, prevent fraud, manage subscriptions, and provide billing support.
4

Third-Party Technologies

Some cookies and similar technologies are provided by third parties that help us operate PDF Gain. Their technologies may be governed by their own privacy and cookie notices.

  • Supabase: Authentication, session handling, and account-related security.
  • Paddle: Checkout, payment processing, subscription management, tax handling, and fraud prevention.
  • Vercel: Hosting, analytics, speed insights, error and performance signals, and infrastructure reliability.
  • Cloudflare R2: Private object storage for uploaded PDFs; document access remains controlled server-side.
5

How to Control Cookies

Most browsers let you block, delete, or limit cookies and site storage. You can usually find these controls in your browser's privacy, security, or site data settings.

You can also remove PDF Gain local storage and cached site data through your browser. If you clear this data, you may be signed out, lose anonymous upload state, or need to re-upload documents.

  • Chrome: Settings, Privacy and security, Third-party cookies or Site settings.
  • Firefox: Settings, Privacy & Security, Cookies and Site Data.
  • Safari: Settings or Preferences, Privacy, Manage Website Data.
  • Edge: Settings, Cookies and site permissions, Manage and delete cookies and site data.

Blocking essential cookies or storage can prevent sign-in, uploads, document editing, checkout, and account features from working.

Do Not Track Signals

Some browsers offer Do Not Track or similar signals. Because there is no consistent industry standard for these signals, PDF Gain does not currently respond to them in a separate way.

We honor the cookie and storage choices you make through your browser and any consent tools that may be available in the product.
